Vanilla Crescents

Delicate vanilla crescents are among the classic Christmas cookies and are a must on every cookie plate during Advent. With fine buttery dough, walnuts, and the aroma of real vanilla, they are a timeless classic.

Ingredients

450 g butter
600 g flour
150 g powdered sugar
Seeds from 1 vanilla pod
210 g walnuts
1 pinch of salt
Vanilla powdered sugar for coating


Preparation

Knead the butter, flour, powdered sugar, vanilla seeds, ground walnuts, and a pinch of salt into a smooth dough. Then let the dough rest in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes.

Shape small crescents from the dough and place them on a baking tray lined with parchment paper. Bake the vanilla crescents in the preheated oven at 180°C for about 7 minutes, until they are lightly golden.

Carefully coat the still-warm crescents in vanilla powdered sugar, then allow them to cool completely.
