History of Radstadt
Radstadt is one of the oldest towns in the Pongau region. The settlement was granted city rights as early as the 13th century and was the only fortified town in the mountains within the Archbishopric of Salzburg. Several city fires changed Radstadt over the centuries. As a result, the old town today presents a harmonious mix of Baroque and Neoclassical styles. History can be discovered step by step around the parish church, the Schusterturm (Cobbler’s Tower), or Lerchen Castle.
